Students may choose to work independently or with others in a group while they create and may keep the projects they make. The focus of this course is to provide a regular artistic experience and space for participants to express themselves openly and creatively. Materials including paints/brushes, markers, crayons, colored pencils, papers, old magazines, scissors and more will be available to the class to utilize.
Paper Snowflake Wonderland – 12/1
Help the Lincoln Arts Institute prepare for winter by creating decorative paper snowflakes to be displayed throughout the building! The Collective series aims to illustrate the benefits of young artists working individually AND collectively on projects using different creative methods. Students will learn about, then practice the technique on canvases individually before working on a single canvas as a class. At the end of series, the individual student and class projects from the month will be proudly displayed for family, friends, and the public on October 29th at the Art Institute. Students will be able to keep the individual pieces of art they make after the gallery exhibition event, and the collective class projects will be sold to the highest bidder.
You can sign up for one class or the series of 3 classes. Go to Purchase a Pass at the top of the page. For one class, click on- “Drop In Kids Classes” and pay $12. For all 3 in the series, get a discount, click on “Kids Series 3 classes” and pay $30.

10/4- Leaf paint print patterns. Students will use real leaves as paint stamps on paper, experimenting using layering and patterns. Students will also be asked to contribute to the collective class project by painting and stamping leaves
10/18. Fall leaf mandalas. After a brief lesson on mandalas, students will collect leaves and stones to create their own mandalas as well as one for the group. Since the mandalas can’t be moved or preserved, they will be photographed to display at the final gallery exhibition event.
