Kids Art Camp

TUESDAY, JULY 6 – 29

 

Tuesdays and Thursdays AT 6 PM CDT – 7 PM CDT

This outdoor camp is designed to blend earth and art with hands-on methods of utilizing the outdoors as a medium to create. Students will learn to use nature as a base and inspiration for design. Both group and individual projects are planned.
Class level 1:
Ages: 6, 7, 8. 6:00pm-7:00pm Tuesday’s in July (6th, 13th, 20th, 27th
Class level 2:
Ages: 9, 10, 11. 6:00pm-7:00pm Thursdays in July (8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th
 
Week 1 (6th & 8th): Mud Masks
Students will introduce themselves to their peers by creating masks hand painted with varying muds.
Week 2 (13th &15th): Mandala
After a basic introduction about mandalas, students will divide into small groups to collect materials and design one of their own.
Week 3 (20th & 22nd): Finding Fractals
Students will learn about the basics of fractals in nature and will practice locating and replicating the detailed designs.
Week 4 (27th & 29th): Framing Fractals
Utilizing methods and information from the previous two sessions to find and create a framed representation of what they have learned.
 
Classes will be held at Scully Park.
Class sizes are limited to 15, advanced registration required.
Fee: $40 per student for the full four week course.
